New projects to raise Saudi port capacity

Saudi Arabia’s Jubail Commercial Port is launching projects aimed at expansion of container terminals and shipping berths.

According to a press statement of the Saudi Ports Authority, the project would increase the capacity of the container terminal to handle one million containers annually. It also would expand and deepen berths from 11 to 16m to enable the port to receive huge ships and giant containers.

This expansion comes in response to the growing demand for using the container terminal at the port by industrial companies in Jubail.
