The volume of oil and petroleum products through Batumi Oil Terminal (BOT Ltd, Republic of Georgia) in January-April 2010 rose to 2.385 million tons, showing a 32.5% surge year-over-year, IA RZD-Partner.Ru reports.
In April, the volume reached 580.300 tons, or 25% up from last year’s April number. Crude oil exports in total transshipped volumes made up 87.8%, or 2 million 93,6 thousand tons, which is 40% higher than a year earlier.
Shipments of petroleum products via BOT in January-April 2010 shrank by 17.6% to 230.700 tons. This includes gasoline volumes that increased by 11.6% to 87,300 tons. Transportation of liquefied natural gas amounted to 60.900 tons, up as much as 2,4 times from Jan-Apr, 2009.
The Batumi Oil Terminal Ltd. has been owned since February 2008, by Kazakhstan KazMunayGas national oil company. The Terminal assets had been acquired by a Kazakhstan’s subsidiary, as well as the right to manage the Batumi Sea Port from the Greenoak Holdings International Investment Group. In 2009 BOT Ltd. posted a 10.3-percent drop in volumes of oil and petroleum products as compared with 2008, to 6 million 414.1 thousand tons.
