Lyttelton Port says council shareholder supportive of merger

Lyttelton Port said its major shareholder Christchurch City Holdings is in principle supportive of the proposed operational merger with Port of Otago.

Talks are continuing and if an operational merger is agreed it will have to be approved by the Commerce Commission and shareholders.

Port of Otago is owned by Otago Regional Council. Christchurch City Holdings is the commercial arm of Christchurch City Council.
