As of 1 May, Hans Lehmann KG will take over Container Terminal Lübeck (CTL) from HHLA
CTL was set up as a short sea lo-lo terminal with dedicated rail shuttles to Hamburg, as an alternative to feedering via the Kiel Canal or the longer voyage via the Skaggerat/Kattegat, for Scandinavian/Baltic traffic.
HHLA has already disposed of Combisped, the licensed 3 TEU road haulier between Hamburg and Lübeck, which it had acquired from the Dreyer family in 2003.
Lehmann, an old-established Lübeck-based stevedore, terminal operator and shipping companies will operate the facility under the name “CTL – Cargo Terminal Lehmann.”
The terminal has a paved area of 80 000 m2 with a 300 m quay, 9.50m water depth and 16 railway tracks. Lehmann has not taken over the container cranes. They will be dismantled later this year.
