LUKA Koper, Slovenia's only port, has extended its agreement with Malaysia's Infinity Logistics, which currently serves as the facility's south east Asian representative.
Infinity has organised a number of promotional events over the past year in an effort to further attract new business to the port, which positions itself as a gateway to Central and Eastern Europe.
Lower costs and reduced sailing times have reportedly prompted a number of carriers to offer direct calls to Luka Koper over other North European ports.
Located on the Adriatic Sea, the Slovenian hub is strategically situated to serve neighbouring areas, such as northeast Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bavaria.
Port Klang Authority chairman Lee Hwa Beng and Northport CEO Basheer Hassan Abdul Kadeer, who were on an official visit to Luka Koper, were both on hand to witness the signing of the agreement.
The contract, which previously only covered Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, now extends Infinity's role to include the Vietnam market as well.
