FLORIDA's Port of Tampa has expanded its container cargo container terminal to 40 acres, nearly doubling the size of its previous 25 acre grounds.
The newly enlarged facility boasts three rail-mounted gantry cranes, a 100-ton mobile crane, a channel depth of 43 feet, and a berth-length of 2,100 feet, the Associated Press reported.
Port spokesman Andy Fobes said plans to further expand the terminal to 160 acres - which would allow for the handling of more than one million TEU - were also in the works.
