Marseilles Fos to boost Brazil links

Apr 15, 2010 Port

- The French port Marseilles Fos is to establish commercial representation in Brazil to further enhance links with its main trading partner in South America, which currently contributes some 4.5 tonnes through the port each year.

The announcement by the port’s newly appointed development director, Dirk Becquart, was made during a three-day trade mission in Brazil. Key cargo targets for Marseilles Fos, which has been twinned with the Brazilian Port of Santos since 2006, include containers, foodstuffs, biofuels and dry bulks.

Currently three new container terminals are being developed – the twin facilities at Fos 2XL due on stream in 2011 and the Fos 4XL project to be operated by Hutchison Port Holdings from around 2017/2018.
