BG FREIGHT Line (BG) has launched a second weekly direct service linking the UK's north eastern Teesport with Rotterdam to meet rising demand on the route following its launch a year ago said a company statement.
PD Ports CEO David Robinson said the success of the initial service linking Teesport and Rotterdam was a clear indicator of demand.
"This is a growing market and the need for extra sailings is both a vote of confidence in PD Ports to handle the additional traffic and in the North East as a place to do business."
Vessels depart Rotterdam Tuesdays and Saturdays and arrive in Teesport Wednesdays and Sundays. Docking terminals will be PD Ports TCT1 at Teesport and at Rotterdam's RST South, Kramer RCT Maasvlakte and ECT Delta.
The service accepts all types of container and tank traffic. With the specially fitted vessels in the fleet, BG can offer space for 45 footers 2.55 wide high cube as well as any length tank or bulk container.
PD Ports is owned by Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management, a global fund manager, and a specialist transport infrastructure projects.
PD Ports employs 1,140 staff and generates annual revenues of GBP120 million (US$183 million) from UK locations.
