Third Gottwald MHC for Suriname

Mar 16, 2010 Port

- A third Gottwald HMK 260 E Generation 4 crane mobile harbour crane (MHC) has been ordered by Integra Port Services (IPS) for its operations within the public terminal at the river Port of Paramaribo, Suriname.

Two similar cranes, one new and one used, already operate at the port for handling containers and general cargo. The first crane was commissioned in May 2009, with IPS purchasing a factory refurbished HMK 260 E shortly afterward. The third unit rounds off the fleet and will mainly be used to handle containers.

“The first two HMK 260 E cranes have been a crucial component for the development of our port,” said Remy Vyzelman, president of IPS. “With combined rates of more than 50 berth moves per hour, the two cranes have created a very good basis to increase productivity and make the port a more efficient shipping hub.”

The third crane will match the earlier units by having six axles and an adapted crane propping system to overcome the load-bearing restrictions on the quay.
