Shanghai port box volume up 23 per cent in February

PORT of Shanghai lifted 1.88 million TEU in February, up 23 per cent over the same period a year ago, Xinhua reported.

On February 5, the port achieved a record a daily throughput for the month at 102,123 TEU.

In the first two months of year, Shanghai recorded a cumulative box volume of 4.12 million TEU, up 20 per cent year on year.

In February, Shanghai International Port Group's (SIPG) throughput tonnage rose 30.7 per cent to 28.2 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo amounted to 18.5 million tonnes, up 33.7 per cent.
