Le Havre close to completing second phase of port project

The French port of Le Havre is set to complete the second phase of its Port 2000 container complex in June 2010, La Tribune reported.

The cost of works is estimated at US$432 million, of which 80 percent paid by Le Havre and 20 percent by the State.

In June the new container port will have a new 2,100-metre long quay to be added to the existing one of 1,400 metres

Hence, the port will have the capacity to handle ten container vessels simultaneously, whereat four million containers for 2010 compared with two million in 2009.
