Singapore extends port concession

Mar 15, 2010 Port

The marine sector received a shot in the arm with news that a concession on port dues is to be extended by six months, the Straits Times reported.

The concession - introduced by the Government last April to help ship operators and marine service providers lower their costs - was to expire at the end of this month.

The extension means all ocean-going ships with a port stay of 10 days or less will continue to receive a 10 percent port dues' concession until the end of September.

Harbour craft engaged in commercial activities within Singapore port waters will receive a 20 percent concession on port dues until that date.
