The Pacific Maritime Association recently awarded Husky Terminal with the West Coast container operators' safety award for completing 2009 with zero-time loss injuries. The award was presented to Steve Bassett, vice president, general manager of Husky Terminal and Stevedoring, at the 62nd annual Washington area safety awards banquet. APM Terminals in Tacoma earned the second place award in that category.
In addition, one ILWU Local 23 member, Tony Goretti, was recognized for 30 years of work without an injury. Six other members of ILWU Local 23 were recognized for working 10 years without a time-loss injury.
