PORTS in southeast China's Fujian province posted a 19.4 per cent increase in throughput to 24.97 million tonnes in January, marking the largest growth during the global crisis, reports Xinhua.
Its Fuzhou port registered 6.93 million tonnes, up 15.8 per cent, while Xiamen port with a 41.6 per cent to 11.15 million tonnes in January. Total container throughput grew 24.1 per cent to 698,000 TEU, namely Fuzhou handled 121,000 TEU with a 39.5 per cent increase and Xiamen port, 469,700 TEU with a 17.6 per cent rise, both reaching new monthly highs since the global crisis began.
