Long Beach eyes $3bn expansion

The US port of Long Beach has inaugurated a $3bn capital construction programme to help it remain competitive.

Existing terminals will be expanded and both road and rail access improved. Previous attempts to modernise the port have been frustrated by environmental campaigners, prompting the port authority to introduce its own Clean Air Action Plan to allay fears.
