THE Port of Shanghai, the world's second largest container port after Singapore, experience a throughput increase of 18 per cent to 2.24 million TEU in January, reported Xinhua.
The port's performance began to pick up since the second half of 2009 when the foreign trade revived. Shanghai moved 2.39 million TEU in December last year, creating the first positive increase though the year. Shanghai handled 2.5 million TEU in 2009, down 11 per cent year on year.
