Yangtze Port of Nantong January box volume soars 46.3pc

EASTERN China's Port of Nantong, north of Shanghai near the mouth of the Yangtze, registered a throughput of 33,000 TEU in January, a strong growth of 46.3 per cent over the same month in 2009, breaking the fastest growth record in nearly two years, Xinhua reported.

The port's cargo throughput tonnage also set up a new fastest growth record of 24.3 per cent to 11.8 million tonnes.

The port is targeting on achieving an annual cargo tonnage of 140 million tonnes and a container throughput of 450,000 TEU for this year.
