NORTHEASTERN China's port of Dalian lifted 423,000 TEU in January, up 9 per cent year on year, Xinhua reported.
The port's January throughput grew 21.7 per cent to a new monthly high of 25.8 million tonnes.
Foreign trade cargo container volume rose 4.4 per cent after continuously falling for a year. Foreign trade cargo tonnage increased 28 per cent to 9.9 million tonnes, becoming the major force for the growth.
Port operations did not suffer much from the coldest winter in 30 years, not nearly as hard as other ports around the Bohai Rim as the water was wide and deep enough to avoid a freeze-up.
