The Port of Ningbo has launched a container train service from Nanchang in central Jiangxi province to Ningbo's Beilun port, after its empty-container train service on the same route launched in the beginning of February.
The inaugural train composed of 48 railway wagons carried 96 TEU from Nanchang to Beilun with a transit time of 27 hours. Cargo can be transshipped to other ports for shipment worldwide.
Ningbo Port Southeast Logistics, the carrier of the port's train freight service, will further expand the hinterland market among Jiangxi and Hunan by coordinating with ports, railway operators, shipping lines and truck owners.
The freight train service marks a new stage for Ningbo port's hinterland service expansion. The port plans to launch more "five fixed" services, namely fixed loading and unloading place, route, sequence, arrival time and freight rate, when the hinterland market grows mature.
