Hamburg Sud: New agency for Algeria

With effect from 9 February 2010, Arkas Algerie SPA will be taking charge of all agency duties for Hamburg Süd in Algeria. Arkas Algerie SPA has offices in the two principal ports of Algiers and Oran and succeeds Dolphin One, the agency with which Hamburg Süd has successfully worked in Algeria up to now.

With the integration of Arkas Algerie SPA, the shipping group is enhancing its commercial presence in the region and guaranteeing its customers short communication channels and significantly faster, on-the-spot handling. At the same time, the realignment enables Hamburg Süd to take account of the substantial growth in demand for imports in Algeria as well as customer demand for more reefer cargo. The latter will be assured above all by the use of the Portsec container depot in Algiers, which provides space and plugs for up to 60 reefer boxes and simultaneously guarantees faster handling in the port of Algiers. The ports of Algiers and Oran are served by the NAFS Service, which connects Algeria with key markets in Latin America and Europe.
