France’s Port of Dunkirk has achieved the ISO 9001 certification following audits conducted in October and November 2009. In line with the Strategic Plan, this certification marks a new phase in the improvement drive that has been on-going for several years.
According to port authority management this accreditation, together with the certifications already gained in pilotage, towage and boatage, will strengthen Dunkirk’s position as a major player in sea and inland waterway transport both at European and worldwide levels.
Amongst other benefits, the certification will improve internal coordination between the Harbour Master's Office, lock operators, winch operators, and structure maintenance personnel ensuring a high level of service for ocean-going ships and river vessels using Dunkirk.
