Chittagong port volume up 8.6pc, imports, exports rise

BANGLADESH's largest port of Chittagong handled 1.16 million TEU, an 8.6 per cent leap in volumes from last year's 1.07 million TEU with the biggest leap from imports up 50,000 TEU year on year.

According to a report from London's International Freighting Weekly the port which handles 92 per cent of the country's international trade saw both exports growing from 531,000 TEU to 577,000 and imports to 584,000-TEU from 534,000-TEU year on year.
