Dubai difficulty won't delay Cochin's Vallarpadam CT opening

THE International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam that is under development at Cochin Port in the Indian state of Kerala is expected to be commissioned by March.

The announcement seeks to calm fears that the crisis at the Dubai World Company would hinder the progress of ICTT, which is being developed with the help of DP World, a unit of financially troubled Dubai World, reports the Press Trust of India.

Shipping Secretary K Mohandas said work on the project had continued and was in the final stage. He added that work including road connectivity and dredging are pending, though they too were expected to be completed before March.
