PORTS in eastern China's Shandong province posted an 11.4 per cent increase in cargo movement to 612 million tonnes in the first 10 months, marking a faster pace of growth, reports Xinhua.
The provincial port volume growth in the first eight and nine months stood at 9.2 per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively, especially its foreign trade throughput increased 10 per cent to 351 million tonnes in the first 10 months. But during this period, container volume fell 2.7 per cent.
At Shangdong's three main ports, Qingdao, Rizhao and Yantai, cargo volume hit 523 million tonnes, accounting for 85.5 per cent of the provincial total. Qingdao cargo increased five per cent to 263 million tonnes, Rizhao was up 22 per cent to 154 million tonnes and Yantai's increased 11 per cent to 106 million tonnes.
