CARGO volume through the Port of Murmansk Port grew by 33.9 per cent in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2008, said the Russian Transport Daily Report.
It said the throughput of coal and coke was up 19.4 per cent year-on-year, ore fell 8.2 per cent, scrap metal fell 3.1 per cent, oil handling grew 2.4 times and oil products were down 53.9 per cent. Mineral fertiliser handling fell 26.9 per cent, ferrous and non-ferrous metals were down 31.1 per cent and 24.9 per cent respectively. Packaged goods handling decreased by 62.9 per cent and other cargoes were down 50.8 per cent.
