Panama Canal CEO urges ports to be ready for expansion

PANAMA Canal Authority (ACP) administrator and CEO Alberto Aleman Zubieta has called on ports to be prepared for the expansion of the Panama Canal, as he emphasised that anticipating future infrastructure needs will be critical to their growth.

Mr Zubieta delivered these remarks at the fourth SeaCargo Americas Conference held earlier this month in Miami, Florida, an event that focuses on enhancing and growing the maritime industry in the Americas.

The event drew some 4,000 industry executives and included panelists: Ports America chief commercial officer Peter Stone, Ceres Terminals Inc president and CEO Thomas Simmers and Port of New Orleans president and CEO Gary LaGrange, a statement from the Panama Canal Authority said.
