Kotka port cargo turnover (Finland) decreased by 34.9% (6.34 mln tons) in January-October, 2009 as compared to the corresponding period of 2008. As per the port’s information, box turnover of the port decreased by 46.4% (to 286,832 TEUs). Most part of the cargo turnover fell onto pulp-and-paper plant products, the volume of transhipment of which reduced by 17.3% (to 2 mln tons).
At the same time import cargo turnover decreased by 59.2% (to 1 mln tons), export cargo - by 20.9% (to 3.4 mln tons), transit cargo - by 39.1% (1.7 mln tons), local turnover increased by 22.4% (234 mln tons).
The amount of automotive equipment decreased by 81.6% (to 71, 780 units).
Kotka port is one of the main export ports of Finland. It is a part of logistic hub that provides trade between Finland and Russia. Cargo turnover of the port exceeded 10 mln tons in 2008.
