The Port of Jacksonville said Tuesday that long-time communications director Robert Peek has been named director of marketing development, while well-known Jacksonville media professional Nancy Rubin has been hired as the port communications director.
Peek has been communications director, working in the port's external affairs office, for 11 years. In his new position, he will work with the creative team to develop and execute innovative programs to grow cargo sales through the port and assist with initiatives in support of the port authority's strategic marketing plan.
Robert has consistently done an outstanding job for us, said Rick Ferrin, the port's executive director. I am sure he will play a central role in our marketing efforts, as he uses his energy and knowledge of port functions to best serve our customers. Rubin has more than 25 years experience in communications. She is known in Jacksonville as a television journalist and media consultant who has worked with businesses and non-profit organizations.
She will now be the primary media spokesperson for all port activity.
Nancy brings with her a deep understanding of the local community, its people, history and priorities, Ferrin said. Her existing connections to Jacksonville and its media will allow her to send out Jaxport's message in a meaningful way.
