New Rhine highlight: duisport sky center

Oct 9, 2009 Port

The duisport Group is planning a highly modern office complex in a spectacular waterfront location on Mercator Island. Several buildings with a total floor area of 65,000 sq.m. will be constructed on a 7.5 acre tract. The duisport sky center will benefit from its excellent access to the transportation system and its situation in the heart of the Rhine/Ruhr region. Thousands of jobs could be created.

The sky center continues the progress made by Duisburg’s urban development in recent years. The Inner Port known beyond the borders of the city and the development of the Ruhrort quarters are all part of this progress. The project promoted by duisport is a flagship office property with outstanding location features. The interstate highway system, Duisburg’s central station and Düsseldorf airport are no more than a few minutes away.
The duisport sky center will be built on Mercator Island on the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. In cooperation with the city administration a park and high-grade office properties will be constructed on a terrain of approx. 17 acres.

Sustainability is a key element of every program supported by the duisport Group. Cargo flows are shifted to the railroads and to barges and solar facilities are installed on the roofs of warehouses in the port area. The duisport sky center will therefore also satisfy all modern green building standards. An ecological concept will warrant for instance energy efficiency and the maximum use of natural resources.
