SINGAPORE-based Neptune Orient Lines' container shipping arm, APL, plans to terminate its peak season transpacific PS-5 service with the last eastbound sailing of APL Amazonite from Shanghai on November 9.

The peak season service, the only one launched this year on the Pacific, started in August and deployed five 3,800-4,700 TEU ships, reported Paris-based Alphaliner. All vessels are from the APL fleet as New World Alliance partners, Hyundai and MOL, opted out of the scheme.

The rotation is Kaohsiung, Shenzhen (Chiwan), Guangzhou (Nansha), Fuzhou, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland and back to Kaohsiung.
