259.5-meter long container carrier calls on the port of Klaipeda for the first time in port’s history. The MSC Aniello built in 2000 has the breadth of 32.2 meters, maximal draft – 13 meters.

On September 9, MSC Aniello moored the berth No82 operated by Klaipėdos Smeltė. 1,121 containers (1,500 TEU) were unloaded and loaded on the 4,056-TEU vessel.
 
MSC Aniello left the port of Klaipeda on September 11.
 
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice-free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea.

19 big stevedoring companies, ship - repair and ship – building yards operate within the port and all marine business and cargo handling services are being rendered. The annual port cargo handling capacity is up to 40 million tons. The port is capable of handling dry cargo carriers of up to 70,000 tonnes in deadweight and tankers of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. In 2008 the port handled 29.876.7 million tonnes of cargo.
