Ports in southwestern China's Guangxi region handled 13.4 million tonnes of cargo in July, increasing 28.6 per cent year on year. This is the second consecutive month that it posted a year-on-year increase in its port throughput, Xinhua reported. From January to July, these ports handled 78.6 million tonnes of cargo, up 6.1 per cent year on year. The seaport on Beibu Gulf registered a throughput of 50.4 million tonnes, up 2.8 per cent. River port throughput grew 12.3 per cent to 28.3 million tonnes.
An analyst quoted by the report considered the growth to be a result of China's policy success in resolving the negative impact of the downturn.
