Chinese ports' foreign trade up 1.9pc in first seven months

CHINESE sea ports registered the first increase this year in the foreign trade cargo throughput from January to July, which rose 1.9 per cent year on year to 1.2 billion tonnes, Xinhua reported.

The seaports handled 1.1 billion tonnes, up 1.1 per cent, while river ports moved 106 million tonnes, up 12 per cent.

In July, the seaports in China handled 189 million tonnes of foreign trade cargo.
