Agility, a global provider of integrated logistics solutions, has announced the launch of its new Container Freight Station (CFS) – a major new consolidation and redistribution service – from its hub in Dubai. This new service will be offered to all shippers and consignees who have shipment of less than a container load (LCL).
The launch of the CFS was a logical next step for Agility, as it continues to add value to its services in the MENA region. By creating this hub, it can now consolidate the cargoes originating from various world ports and redistribute them throughout the Gulf and Africa. Furthermore, Agility has co-launched this service in the Far East and Europe.
Greg Olsen, CEO of Agility Dubai, said:
“Consolidation of LCL cargo is an important part of the ocean freight business and whilst we appreciate this is not a new product; we believe we have a competitive advantage to offer our clients – our global network. We have the global presence from which to leverage more countries and areas than our competitor. In addition, we have substantial buying power with major carriers, meaning we can deliver greater value as well as a greater service to our clients.
“In addition to ensuring the needs of all our clients are met with maximum efficiency, Agility believes strongly in being socially responsible. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and a CFS hub is another step forward in lowering our own and our clients’ environmental pollution. By consolidating freight, the domino effect within the supply chain becomes more environmentally friendlier. We have implemented this across three continents and we will continue to find ways to reduce our carbon footprint.”
At a time when consignees are shipping smaller volumes, the LCL market is likely to grow. Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) port is well placed to cater to this market as turnaround times for vessels are very quick compared to other ports. This means that goods can be cleared and delivered to Agility’s CFS, and ready for redistribution within 8-12 hours of the vessel’s arrival.
Agility’s CFS will offer handling and temporary storage of import/export laden and empty containers carried under customs control. The covered facility dedicated for this service comprises of 1000 square meters with capacity for around 900 pallet positions. Other specific features include: free pick up of cargo with JAFZA; value added services (repackaging, labeling…); door to door services; precise service schedules and multiple weekly frequencies.
Agility operates from a worldwide network of 550 offices in 120 territories and will bring a wealth of experience to reinforce Dubai’s position as a major regional cargo hub.
