Chiwan terminal RTGs receive municipal funds for green refit

SHENZHEN'S Chiwan Container Terminal received a subsidy of CNY1 million (US$146,400) from the city's Nanshan District government for its project of refitting the power of its rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes from fuel to electricity in order to be greener.

The fund, given to honour the terminal's effort in recycling economy, is an recognition and encouragement of CCT's RTG power refitting project, said the terminal.

The Nanshan District government offer the fund as an incentive for enterprises to improve their environmental protection measures. The subsidy given to CCT is the largest sum ever given by the government.
