Fifty-two percent of the container cargo was trucked by 2007 or newer vehicles for the week endling July 21, 2009 - already meeting the 2012 deadline required under the Port of Long Beach's Clean Trucks Program.
Of the nearly 16,000 vehicles registered in the Clean Trucks Program, nearly one-third are already 2007 or newer, according to a Clean Trucks report posted at www.polb.com/cleantrucks . The 2007 and newer trucks emit 80 percent fewer air pollutants than older trucks.
