Container throughput of eastern China's port of Ningbo fell 9.3 per cent year on year to 855,000 TEU, Logistics Week reported.
The port received 913 containership callings in this month, 408 were from ocean shipping lines, contributing 609,000 TEU to its throughput. Near sea feeder line callings amounted to 174, contributing 60,000 TEU. International transit containers totalled to 69,000 tonnes.
Throughput went up 5.1 per cent up to 31 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo climbed 9.3 per cent to 15.1 million tonnes.
The local port authority said the negative impact brought by the economic crisis is still haunting the hinterland regions where the port's cargo mostly come from. Foreign trade is still covered in a gloomy mist.
