American ports get US$30 million in stimulus green grants

THE US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), flushed with US$300 million in federal stimulus funds, is providing $30 million to port authorities to replace older trucks and upgrade polluting cargo handling equipment, reports the American Association of Port Authorities.

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey gets the most with $11 million, with LA-Long Beach getting $6 million. The Maryland Port Administration gets $3.5 million and Oakland and the South Carolina State Ports Authority each get $2 million.
