Cargo loading in Klaipeda sea port down 15.4% to 17.1 mln t in H1 09

In January-June 2009, 17.1 million tones of cargo was loaded in Klaipeda State Port including Butinge Terminal, a decrease of 15.4% year-on-year.

According to the data of the Lithuanian Department of Statistics, 13 million tones of cargo was loaded in Klaipeda sea port, a decrease of 18% year-on-year. A total of 4.1 million tones of crude oil was loaded in Butinge terminal in January-June this year, a decrease of 6% compared to the first six months of 2008, writes ELTA/LETA.

The total number of passengers visiting Klaipeda sea port by ferries in January-June this year shrank 21.2% year-on-year and totaled 716,300 people.
