THE National Portable Storage Association's (NPSA) database helps members protect themselves against those engaged in fraud, the group has announced.
In the case of container fraud, the STAR Database takes reports of companies that purchase portable storage containers from vendors and never pay for them, as well as suppliers who collect money for portable storage containers from companies and never ship them.
"The STAR (Status, Trend, Alert Reporting) database helps avoid scams, deadbeat vendors and other billing problems. It allows members to search for the names of companies to determine if other members have had fraud, money collection or other accounting problems with them in the past," said the association statement.
"The database is helping protect our members in many ways," said NPSA executive director John Finnessy. "We rely on members to submit the new entries concerning bankruptcies, collection payments, broken promises, past due payments and other issues."
