Throughput of Aktau port (Kazakhstan) down 26% to 6.6 mln t in H1 09

In the first half of 2009, Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (Kazakhstan) handled 6.6 million tonnes (-26%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports.

According to the port’s press center, transshipment of crude and oil products totaled 5.521 million tonnes (+25%, year-on-year), general cargo – 803,000 tonnes (-7%).

The port of Aktau is located at the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. It is the only seaport of Kazakhstan to serve international transportation of dry cargo, oil and oil products.
