First stage of Fuel Oil Terminal in Ust-Luga to start work before the end of 2009

Jul 2, 2009 Port

“The first stage of terminal specialising in fuel oil handling in Ust-Luga will be put into operation before the end of 2009”, claimed Sergey Ivanov, Russian Vice Prime Minister.

“By the end of this year, the first stage, the capacity of which is 7 mln tons, will have been launched, and the flow of Russian fuel oil transported via Estonian ports will become smaller,” RZD-Partner cites S. Ivanov as saying today at his meeting with Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister.

He noted that until now there is no terminal specializing in fuel oil handling in Russian sea ports, so the RF had to export approximately 17 million tons of this cargo via Estonian ports annually.

At the meeting, Vladimir Putin allotted a task to define the borders of the port.
