CMA CGM adjusting key Asia/Europe services

Jun 22, 2009 Port

CMA CGM said Wednesday it is adjusting its services between Asia and Europe, offering slots on 10 services that reach 260 port pairs with 26 direct loading ports in Asia and 10 discharge ports in Europe.

The services will all be branded under CMA CGM's familiar FAL name, including loops on which the line has arranged service agreements for slots. CMA is also slightly changing rotations on its core services FAL 1, 2 and 3.

Specifically, the French line is adding calls on two of its main Far East/Europe loops and rerouting a third service eastbound through the Suez Canal after it had previously been diverted around the Cape of Good Hope:
      • The FAL 1 service will now have a rotation of Dalian, Xingang, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Singapore, Port Kelang, Tangiers, Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Malta, Khorfakkan, Yantian and Dalian. Xiamen and the eastbound call at Yantian are new to the service.
      • The FAL 2 service will maintain rotation of Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Port Kelang and Ningbo, but will see ships transit eastbound through the Suez Canal as of mid-July.
      • The FAL 3 will have a rotation of Qingdao, Ningbo, Chiwan, Nansha, Yantian, Port Kelang, Malta, Le Havre, Dunkirk, Zeebrugge, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Southampton, Beirut, Jeddah, Port Kelang, Chiwan and Qingdao. The service adds a call at Chiwan on the eastbound leg and quicker departures from Qingdao and Ningbo “in order to reduce transit times to Europe, the line said.

Along with its own services, CMA CGM is branding seven other services on which it charters slots under the FAL name:
      • CMA CGM’s FAL 7 service corresponds to Maersk-Safmarine’s AE7 big ship loop, using eight 14,700-TEU vessels and two 9,700-TEU vessels with a rotation of Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Zeebrugge, Tangiers, Yantian, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Algeciras and Rotterdam.
