Jun 9, 2009 Port

MacGREGOR has been awarded a US$6 million fixed price contract by the US Navy for the delivery of two twin boom level luffing cargo handling cranes. MacGREGOR has unrivalled experience in developing marine cargo handling and offshore load-handling solutions, and is part of Cargotec Corporation, the world's leading provider of cargo handling solutions used in local transportation, terminals, ports, distribution centres, and ships.

Jeff Siegel, vice president of sales, Service division, Americas, says that: “MacGREGOR was chosen because it is able to provide the customer not only with the new cranes but also with a turn-key installation.”

The order was secured by Service office in New York, USA, and, along with the delivery of the new cranes, it also includes the removal and disposal of the existing cranes, the refurbishment of existing boom stands and crane bases, as well as providing preparatory work for a crane stabilisation system.

The cranes are expected to be operational by March 2011 and are destined for the US Navy’s Engineering Command Crane Training Centre in Portsmouth, Virginia.
