Throughput of Archangelsk seaport down 35.5% to 1.38 mln t in Jan-May 09

In January-May 2009, Archangelsk seaport handed 1,383,700 tonnes of cargo (-35.5%, year-on-year).  According to the port’s administration, transshipment of export cargo totaled 460,800 tonnes (-42.6%, year-on-year) including paper and cellulose (-18.9%),  168,100 tonnes of timber (-28.8%), 4,600 tonnes of loaded containers (-71.1%),  14,800 tonnes of other general cargo (-84.3%), 203,400 tonnes of oil products (-12%). Transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 641,700 tonnes (-44.3%) including 24,600 tonnes of loaded containers (+89.2%), 24.600 tonnes of other general cargo (-3.9%), 519,100 tonnes of oil products (-50%).


All in all the port accepted 281,200 tonnes of cargo (+47%, year-on-year). Transshipment of import cargo totaled 210,100 tonnes (+96%) including 5,600 tonnes of loaded containers (-70.7%), 89,900 tonnes of general cargo (up 4.3 times), 114,600 tonnes of ferrous metal (+70.5%). Transshipment of coastal trade cargo amounted to 71,100 (-15.5%, year-on-year) including 13,500 tonnes of loaded containers (up 7.1 times) and 57,600 tonnes of other general cargo (-29.9%).
