SCT successfully took the delivery of five new quay cranes (QC) from ZPMC on 26 May 2009. With a lifting capacity of 65 tons and a maximum outreach of 65 meters, these equipments are capable for handling the largest containerships in the world. Complying with the principle of ‘Green Terminal’, they are reconstructed to be more energy-efficient.
Together with another 7 electrical rubber-tyred gantry cranes (eRTGs), which schedule to be delivered by end of June, these new equipments will be deployed in the No.9 new berth expected to be operational by late 2009. Adding the new cranes, SCT total quay cranes have been boosted to 33 units, with which the terminal operation efficiency will be greatly improved.
