Dallas logistics hub receives FTZ designation

Mar 17, 2008 Logistics

The Allen Group said part of its 6,000-acre multimodal Dallas logistics hub has been included in the expansion of Foreign Trade Zone No. 39 in Dallas.

A FTZ provides U.S. importers, especially retail distribution operations, with key supply chain cost-savings through consolidated weekly entries to Customs, reduced duty rates via assembly or pick-and-pack operations, duty deferral and local tax benefits.

The logistics hub is adjacent to Union Pacific's Southern Dallas Intermodal Terminal, a proposed BNSF intermodal facility, four major highways -- Interstates 20, 45 and 35 and Loop 9, as well as Lancaster Airport.
