UNITED AIRLINES has reported its cargo ton miles fell 32.2 per cent year to date in April to 393,621 from the 580,972 attained in the same period last year, with mail dropping 20.2 per cent and overall mainline throughput off 30.7 per cent.
These figures were contained in the consolidated traffic results for April 2009, in which the company reported a consolidated passenger load factor of 79.9 per cent for the month. Total consolidated revenue passenger miles (RPMs) decreased 8.7 per cent in April on a consolidated capacity decrease of 8.7 per cent in available seat miles (ASMs) compared with the same period in 2008.
The company, which employs 48,500 staff, operates over 3,100 flights a day on United and United Express to more than 200 US domestic and international destinations from its hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and Washington and serves 159 countries worldwide.
