First quarter Chongqing Airport export volume falls 27pc

CHONGQING airport customs handled 459 tonnes of export cargo during the first quarter, a decline of 27 per cent year on year.

Cargo value fell 13 per cent to US$31 million, Xinhua reported. Among the cargo, were exports under general trade category, which slumped 30 per cent in value to $19.3 million. But exports under processing trade category soared 103 per cent to $9.1 million.

Value of exports to Canada rose six-fold year-on-year to $3.3 million. Exports to Taiwan also registered a growth of 15 per cent in value. But value of exports to China's leading trading partners, the US and India, were in decline.
