DHL road service shows strong SEA growth

Apr 20, 2009 Logistics

Businesses in Southeast Asia are widely embracing road transport services, and the month of March 2009 marked record volumes moved via road by DHL.
Compared to February 2009, road volumes on the DHL Economy Select (Road) service grew by 79 percent in March, marking the largest month-on-month growth in 32 months.
The road service registered an average of over 20 percent month-on-month growth over the past 12 months, a testament to the increasing relevance of road express services to intra-Asia trade routes.
The economic downturn has heightened customers' interest and demand for reliable yet cost-effective measures and we're seeing a tremendous upswing in demand for our Economy Select (Road) service, said Yasmin Khan, DHL Express Asia Pacific senior vice-president, Southeast Asia. We expect demand for road express services to continue to grow as customers appreciate the timeliness and reliability of the service.
The service started in August 2006 and has operating routes connecting Singapore, West Malaysia and Thailand in Southeast Asia.
